The need for fund can be felt anytime. There can be many reasons that may force you to go for the Premature Withdrawal of your fixed deposit in a bank. Unlike other banks, Canara Bank also has the penalty applicable on Premature Withdrawal of FD.
In case of premature withdrawal of your fixed deposit/ partial withdrawal/ premature extension of domestic term deposit/ NRO term deposit whose value is less than Rs. 1 crore which are accepted or renewed on or after February 4, 2011, a penalty charge of 1.00% shall be charged.
For the premature closure/premature extension of NRE term deposits of Rs. 1 crore and above that are accepted or renewed on or after October 13, 2012, the bank will not levy any charges. For the premature closure/premature extension in case of NRE term deposits of Rs. 1 crore and above which are placed/renewed from December 29, 2011, to October 12, 2012, Canara bank will also be charging a penalty of 1.00%. All the investors are advised to gather relevant information about the terms and conditions on fixed deposit returns, premature withdrawal, and maturity to avoid any kind of disappointment.
